My Why

The Mission Behind Community 75: Turning Hardship into Hope

Community 75 was born from a deep desire to share the abundant blessings God has bestowed upon my family, a first-generation immigrant family that escaped communism to pursue the American dream. Raised by my eldest sister after losing our parents, I faced profound challenges—losing my mother as a child, being left for dead at age two, and arriving in America to a family that rejected me. A pivotal moment came when I couldn’t afford $75 for college books, nearly leading me to abandon my education; yet, God intervened with a $100 tip the next day, transforming my breaking point into a turning point. This grace propelled me to become the first in my family to earn a college degree and build a career at Microsoft, where I contributed to groundbreaking innovations like PDAs and Windows NT. Inspired by my mother Dy’s (pronounced Dee) ultimate sacrifice—losing her life and her shop during our escape—I founded Community 75 to honor her legacy through Dy’s Hope, offering scholarships and grants to help others overcome their moments of despair. My vision is to foster a fellowship of shared faith, spreading God’s message and sowing seeds of hope, ensuring no one faces their struggles alone. Though I once mourned having only one photo of my mother, whose name means "Good" in Thai, I now see it as a cherished blessing—a reminder that God’s plans, though mysterious, never forsake us.
